In the 21st century, humans have never been so interconnected. Information ripples through the world in a matter of seconds. People are made aware of events as they unfold. Amazing, isn’t it?
Which begs the question, “Why is Downton Abbey stuck in a temporal anomaly?” Britain airs it first then other countries follow suit. But not after the series finale in Britain. The blu-ray edition gets released a few weeks after the Christmas special airs.
Social media is immediately buzzing with spoilers from ITV, fans, and bloggers right after an episode airs. So why do fans outside Britain even bother watching it on local channels? I don’t care if it’s licensing, contracts, or whatever money-making conundrum they’re stuck with. They need to make this right.
