Adore Delano‘s second single “I Adore U” from her debut album “Till Death Do Us Party” is some quality sh!t! She was just here in Vancouver last weekend to film her music video for “Party“, her third cut.
Finally! A Serious One
I have to say, “Till Death Do Us Party” is actually a serious album. Finally! This album has great potential. It has this mass appeal kind of feel to it. She’s already a tested singer … from American Idol and RuPaul’s Drag Race musical bits. She’s already capitalizing on her fans from American Idol before she got on Drag Race … so it’s a pretty good start for her.
Most of the music produced by RuPaul’s Drag Race alumnae are either too campy, mediocre, or dare I say …. basic. RuPaul’s albums are great they can be taken seriously. But her music videos are mostly cooky … rough around the edges one might say. With the exception of the music videos produced each season, the rest seem a bit … rushed. It’s great that Bianca Del Rio won’t be producing any albums, she can’t really sing anyway. Why sing when you can insult people to death and get paid to do it? LOL I’ve had enough of sing-speak. I’ve been wondering if any of them girls will ever produced an album that’s actually not based on comedy or club scene. I mean, funny songs are well and good, but I don’t think I’ll be playing “Boy Is A Bottom” at a corporate party or family gathering. The only other drag race contestant who’s comparable in quality is Sharon Needle’s “PG-13“, and even that to me may run into trouble getting in the mainstream. Simply because Sharon’s niche is somewhat confined … spooky. I mean, c’mon… “Hail Satan” and Bible-tearing acts is bound to ruffle a lot of feathers. You gotta appreciate her shtick to get in on her work.
Why won’t DWV (Detox, Willam, Vicky) produce a serious album instead of doing parodies all the time? #rhetorical.
It Is What It Is
It’s a great album. I mean, I’m not just saying this because I get to hand out with her for a bit when she was here … I wasn’t even rooting for her to win RuPaul’s Drag Race season six! Even after ending in the top three. I called her a fluke. lol. But you know, gotta give credit where credit is due. So within the context of her album and accompanying music videos … “Till Death Do Us Party” is some quality sh!t! Good for her! More power … and… party!
