Are you familiar with the racially loaded phrase “you all look alike“? It goes both ways, white-to-people of color and vise versa. It may have played a role in this case of mistaken identity. But more than anything else, it’s the accuracy of Britney Spears’ drag impersonator Derrick Barry as “Britney Spears” that got Vogue Japan mistook her for the real pop princess.
This is not Derrick Barry’s first time being misidentified as the “Oops I Did It Again” singer. A renowned online magazine in the UK also mistakenly used Barry’s drag photo in a Britney Spears article. Britney Spears impersonation sums up Derrick Barry’s drag career. She has appeared on reality television competition shows such as “America’s Got Talent” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as a professional Britney Spears impersonator. And she is pretty damn good at it too. At times her Britney is better than the real Britney’s Britney. Think about that for minute.
So when Vogue Japan mistook her for the real Britney, it comes as no surprise. It’s simply an updated “validation” that her craft is still in the zone.

Britney, who already participates in reading the script, has issued a statement: “I’m very impressed that my music is used in a musical work based on the world of fairy tales where characters I liked when I was a kid,”
23 Britney hit songs in total are inserted The musical is to be staged in Chicago on October 29 and then opened at James M. Netherlander theatre on November 13, with a view on Broadway on the horizon.
The musical, staged by Christine Hangi and written by John Hartmare, “Grimm is the only book they have at Biweekly Reading Clubs where Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, etc. participate. They were active through fairy tales, but as they came to want a new book, and because Fairy Godmother brought Betty Friedan’s book “The Creation of a New Woman”, their lives were unexpected. It seems to be a very entertaining story of the outline of moving in the direction.
So congrats Derrick Barry for making it on Vogue Japan, and hopefully they also publish this in print!
