Yvie Oddly (@OddlyYvie) Rocked #Seattle With Her Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve And Talent; #DragRace #RPlace #MarchDRAGNESS (the original)

R Place in Capitol Hill, Seattle just concluded its’ “March DRAGNESS” (the original) seasonal show – where each week in March the club’s “Lashes” drag cabaret show – which includes performances by mainstay cast; Ladie Chablis, Amora Dior Black, Mila Skyy and Cookie Couture, and their newest cast member Irene Dubois; including performances by local guest talents – is headlined by a cast of the current season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The show is preceded by a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” viewing party the day prior (and hosted by a couple of mainstay cast and the featured “Drag Race” cast). This year, the club booked Kahanna Montrese, Nina West and Yvie Oddly. Plastique Tiara was also booked, but due to a scheduling issue she couldn’t make it on the last week of March, instead she’s coming for a two-nights show in May 2 and 3.

Kahanna Montrese headlined the “Lashes” show on March 8th to a decent size audience. The meet and greet was not very long, but she was very personable and gracious. Her performances were fantastic, as were her costumes and look. She knows how to put on a show. Even though she’s the first Queen to be eliminated on the show, she’s a total trooper.

The following week, Nina West was the second cast to headline the show. Her personality is so grand, larger than life and very warm. Her exuberance is very infectious. Her meet and greet line was long and crazy… Katya Zamolodchikova-crazy… but sweet. She’s like a favorite distant relative you haven’t meet for so long, whom you ran into at the club… in full drag. The fans warmed up to her so easily. Her performances were fun, campy and relatable. And her look and outfits were amazing and refined. And she’s proved that costume and music doesn’t have to jive all the time, it doesn’t have to be a production, because it’s really just about having fun… and the audience agreed.

Yvie Oddly closed “March DRAGNESS” this week. She is by far the most popular of the three current RuGurls. Her meet and greet was the longest… and the craziest… crazier than Katya’s. (Having photographed a few of Katya’s meet and greet, she has set the bar for fan engagement when it comes to meet and greet. She doesn’t just give the fans a photo-op moment, no… she slays them with her outrageous antics that will surely get burned into fan’s long-term memory. It’s crazy amazing!) Yvie Oddly wore her “Digital Lion” outfit for the first meet and greet, which got the fans roaring. Her laugh is as infectious in person as it is on the show. Although she only performed two numbers, it were all fantastic! Her first number with the “Digital Lion” look incorporated some visual backdrop projected on a screen, like… Sasha Velour’s performance when she was headlining the “Lashes” show during her season (hint hint). For her second number, she changed to a “The Ring” movie girl look. Her performance was like being possessed. There were crazy body bending, ghoulish facial expressions and jump splits. It was terrifyingly entertaining.

All three headliners put on a great show. Some of them were more popular than the other, judging by the turnout. But in any case, one thing is for sure, they are super talented and endearing individuals. It’s easy to understand now why the eleventh season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is very fulfilling to watch… they cast really gentle souls. bluebay700/@bluebay700
