The Vietnamese drag superstar is taking over TikTok with her glamorous transformations.
This week’s must-follow account is Plastique Tiara (https://Tiktok.com/plastique_tiara), a 23-year-old Vietnamese drag superstar based in Los Angeles. Since posting her first TikTok in August last year, she’s amassed over 4 million followers on the app and counting—all of whom tune in to see Plastique bring her unparalleled glamour and style to the social media platform. Plastique has been developing her drag aesthetic—which is full of feathery frocks, sequined gowns, and flawless makeup—for around five years now. “I only started doing drag professionally since I appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11, at the age of 21,” she says. “My drag has evolved tremendously over the past three years, not just in terms of better makeup and nicer clothes, but mental strength and thicker skin as well,” she says.
Plastique treats TikTok as her new global stage. Her videos are high on production value, complete with stellar lighting, loads of wind machines, and seamless transitions—all of which she sets up herself. Some of her videos go the extra mile incorporating glow in the darklighting too, proving that performing on TikTok can be just as theatrical and fun of an experience to watch as a real deal live show. — Christian Allaire/@plastiquetiara
