#BREAKING NEWS: B.C. freezes rent increases until July 2021 bit.ly/2U9vENZ.
A COVID-19-related reprieve from rent increases for tenants in B.C. has been extended through to July 2021.
The freeze came into effect in March when the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic and was set to last through December.
“We know many renters are still facing income loss and even the slightest increase in rent could be extremely challenging. For that reason, we are extending the freeze on rent increases to provide more security for renters during the pandemic,” Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Selina Robinson writes in a statement.
Tenants are being told to disregard any notices of rent increase received after March 30, 2020.
